Inspector Hukam Khan was one of the most talented experts of the bomb disposal unit (BDU), he defused around 200 bombs during the year 2012 and was killed while neutralising explosives planted near the Frontier Road on the boundary between Peshawar and Khyber Agency on September 27th 2012.
Hukam Khan was manually defusing explosives and had successfully neutralised one of the improvised explosives devices (IEDs) when the militants triggered another one planted nearby through a remote-control device.
The funeral prayer of Hukam Khan was offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines. Governor Masood Kausar, Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti and senior civil, police and army officials attended the funeral prayer.
Hukam Khan had joined the force as constable in 1978. Three of his sons are also serving in the force as junior officials. Belonging to Matani village in Peshawar district, Hukam Khan was regarded an asset to the BDU.
