Major Zia was commissioned in the 16 Baloch Regiment in May, 1995. He embraced Shahadat while in action in the operation Rah-e-Rast in 2008. Major Zia’s father died when he was only 18 months old. His widow mother raised him and after three decades the journey of her life came to a tragic cross road again. Major Zia’s son(Muhammad Hussain) was seven years old and his daughter(Uroob Fatima) three and a half years old the time he embraced shahadat.
About 100+ miscreants attacked a position of Security Forces at Ucharai Sar, West of Chuprial, Matta Tehsil this morning. The attack was successfully repulsed by the 5 soldiers, though the 4 soldiers were martyred in the 1st go, one warrior Major Zia ul Haq kept on firing his machine gun, resulting into the death of more than a hundred of the miscreants and as many injured. After the limited ammunition with Major Zia was finished he sent to hell many bastard miscreants during the face to face fight he was hit by a bullet in his chest still he seized a gun and embraced shahadat while sending many other terrorists to hell.
According to an eye witness by the end of fight, more than 80+ terrorists were killed. Terrorists spokes man accepted 65 on media. This was the only Battle in Swat where so many terrorists were killed in one night and about 75 dead bodies of terrorists were scattered around Maj Zia ul Haque’s command post. Major Muhammad Zia ul Haque, one Junior Commissioned Officer and three soldiers embraced shahadat in the action.
Zia was a brilliant athelete and student. He enjoyed a brilliant career and also served as ADC. His last words to his friend were “Let them come, and I will teach them a lesson that they will never forget”. The shaheed has posthumously been awarded with “Sitara-e-Basalat” on 14 August 2009.
Rest in peace Major Zia, our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
